Settled

While I was thumbing through the Ensign I came across THIS article from Elder Jeffery R. Holland. He starts out by saying: "The start of a new year is the traditional time to take stock of our lives and see where we are going, measured against the backdrop of where we have been. I don't want to talk about New Year's resolutions, but I do want to talk about the past and the future, with an eye toward any time of transition and change in our lives-and those moments come virtually every day." Jay and I were called to team teach the Valiant 11 class and I was also called to the Enrichment Committee too. I decided to go back to school and start Monday... YIKES!! I am going 3/4 time and have a ginormous math class (6 credit hours)... YIKES!! This is where I start thinking "if only". The list is always long and I ALWAYS have something to add from the previous day looking back. "As a new year begins and we try to benefit from a proper view of what has gone before, I plead with you not to dwell on days now gone nor to yearn vainly for yesterdays, however good those yesterdays may have been. The past is to be learned from but not lived in. We look back to claim the embers from glowing experiences but not the ashes. And when we have learned what we need to learn and have brought with us the best that we have experienced , then we look ahead and remember that faith is always pointed toward the future. Faith always has to do with blessings and truths and events that will yet be efficacious in our lives." So no more "if only". I am going to find the best of the past and bring it with me and leave the rest. And it's time to forgive and forget. I don't think I am holding any grudges or whatever... but it's time to just forget the past wrongs done to me or to someone else. I have done all I can for restitution. I am excited for 2010! I wanted this year to be better and I realize that most of it has to do with my attitude. I need to look forward in faith and realize that there is a Heavenly Father who loves us and wants us to succeed, only after I do my part. That's when he steps in and takes the wheel.

Steph, I find myself appreciating you more and more. Thanks for all you have brought to your family, and to mine.

6 credit hours?! For one class? Geez. Don't fear math - it's not as bad as most people believe. You will do great!
