I was watching a Christmas show on Lifetime. Nothing that I would recommend but it got me thinking about the Christmas's I enjoyed so much as a little girl. And there is one I would like to share.
I was almost 6 years old and I had just learned to ride a bike. I wanted a bike so bad that I would steal the neighbors when they weren't home. This particular Christmas I just new that Santa would pull through. I would get that glassy eye stare with a small smile across my face just thinking of where I could go on my bike. BUT, this was a horrible year for my parents. My dad just had shoulder sugery and was out of work and my mom was expecting my sister. I also remember my Uncle Larry asking me what I wanted Santa to bring me. And I would respond with that glassy eye smile "A BIKE"! My uncle kept encouraging this to my mom's dismay.
Well the night of Christmas Eve it was my turn to say the family prayer. And I thanked Heavenly Father for the bike that Santa would be bringing me. What I just recently found out is this...
After my mom put us to bed she went to her own room to cry. Very late in the evening the doorbell rings, and standing on the porch with a brand spankin' new bike was my Uncle Larry and Aunt Gayle. They had the bike the whole time and wanted to surprise my mom and dad. Little did they know it was an answer to a little girls prayer.
It was a blue banana bike and I LOVED IT! (I was actually upset when my mom got rid of it, even though I new nothing of this story at the time.) I have always known my uncle was a great man, but because of his example I know the true meaning of this season and yes, you've guessed it. I BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUS!
This is my Uncle Larry dressed as Santa and giving me the ok for the bike

Its fun the things we find out about when we grow up, eh! You look very cute in the picture. Are those your pink glasses?
Nope. I didn't get those bad boys until jr high.
I never know that story about my parents. I would be upset too if I have a blue banana bike & it was given away. ;) I am also proud to say that I BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUS as well!
